Website Design

Website design process

Step 1

Specification development
The first step to developing a website is the creation of a project specification. This is essentially your “wish list” for your website. Having a detailed list of project requirements will help us determine what we need to do, how long it will take, and how much it will cost. It will also help with drafting a service agreement contract.

Once a project has begun, changing or adding specifications makes life very difficult on us developers. For this reason we reserve the right to decline implementation of any additions or changes to the agreed project specification once the project has begun. Thus, planning ahead and detailing your “wish list” is perhaps the most important part of the website development process for “you” the client.
Prospective clients that do not make an effort to create a detailed project specification may not be given a quote.

Step 2

Agree to terms and deliverables
Once we have received your project specification we will respond with a quote/proposal. This will tell you exactly what we will deliver, how long it will take and how much it w ill cost. If it looks ok, then we are ready to proceed with the signing of a service agreement contract and the collection of a down payment for the project. At this time you may also request a non disclosure agreement contract (if desired) or any other legally binding contract you wish to enter in to. Once all legal documents have been signed and returned, and we have received the down payment, it is time to begin working on your project.

Step 3

Website Construction
In this phase of the project, it is very important for clients to respond with their feedback in a timely manner. Clients that do not respond promptly to approval requests will have their estimated date of completion pushed back as we deem appropriate. We will continue the process of posting concepts for approval and revising concepts as advised by the client, until the client is satisfied with the design work.

Step 4

Testing and Debugging
Once the construction of the website is complete, we begin the process of testing and debugging. Often times a web page may look fine on one browser, while it contains graphical errors on another browser. We test your website on every major browser to ensure a consistent appearance. It is also at this time that we encourage clients to “play” with the site and invite friends and colleagues to do the same. During this process you may discover technical glitches or “bugs” within the functionality of the website. While we try to catch all of these errors prior to launch, it is possible that some may slip through the cracks. We guarantee that we will fix any technical errors you may discover after launch at no additional cost.
Step 5
